Pastor's Thoughts

Take a few minutes to get into the mind of Pastor Paul. What is he reading, listening to, watching, and entertaining his thoughts with of late.

Being Salt & Light

Matt 5:13-14 (CEV)

13You are like salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on.

14You are like light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden, 15and no one would light a lamp and put it under a clay pot. A lamp is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house. 16Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.

This is a Scripture from a recent sermon discussing how "YOU" are to be salt and light to the world.  I used this passage to describe a core value for believers.  The value was integrity and influence.  In a word, our part from this Scripture is 'influence.'  We are to be people of influence.  We are to be salt and light in our society

And notice from Matt 5 that Jesus' focus is on being before doing.  It's more important for Him to see what we are (integrity) before we show Him our ministry or function (influence).

And finally, the goal of integrity is influence.  We should have a positive and impacting influence on the people we are around.  How do you influence the people you are around?  Positively or negatively?  For the Kingdom or for the world?  Just a thought:)

God bless you and I hope you have a great week.

The One Year Bible - NLT

The Lord has been leading me to pray for an outpouring of His Spirit over our church and to continue until we receive it. Our Monday morning prayer group has committed to pray this forth indefinitely. I believe the Lord is desiring to move again in the local church in a mighty way and we must commit to pray for His will to be done.

Proverbs 9:9-10
9 Instruct the wise,
and they will be even wiser.
Teach the righteous,
and they will learn even more.

10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.
NLT

If you will pursue the knowledge of God, this will result in good judgment BY YOU!!

God Bless You!
